About the data
Every number on the site traces back to a pinned survivoR snapshot: 751 castaways, 50 seasons and 7,887 pairwise shared-season connections. Sources, licenses, photo credits and raw downloads are published below so you can check our work or build your own.

Sources
The core dataset is the survivoR
project, an open-source, MIT-licensed collection of castaway, season, tribe, and
vote-history data for every season of Survivor. We vendor a pinned snapshot
(upstream commit 2872e6c1d9e2), filter it to the US
seasons, validate it, and derive the stats you see on every page: placements, days lasted,
returnee flags, connection counts, and the baked graph layout. Manual corrections are
applied through a reviewed overrides file, never by editing the source data.
Cast photos are self-hosted copies credited to their original publishers (see the table below), resized and served locally so no third-party site carries our traffic. Editorial feature photography and its Creative Commons terms are credited there as well. Survivor itself is a CBS production; this is an unofficial fan project with no CBS affiliation.
What specific fields mean
The upstream dataset
documentation defines castaways.age as age during the season played and
castaways.city/state as residence during that appearance. On this
site, a player's headline hometown uses the latest listed appearance, so “from a state” means
that recorded residence, not birthplace, childhood home, or current address.
Occupation and personality labels come from survivoR's castaway_details table.
Its documentation cites Survivor Wiki and
Personality Database
for that table; Personality Database describes itself as user-curated and community-voted.
The MBTI-style labels on this site are therefore fan-made classifications, not official CBS
bios, self-reported test results, diagnoses, or psychological assessments.
Average-viewer figures come from survivoR's season_summary field
viewers_mean. Rankings built from it describe measured US audience size in that
source, not season quality. Editorial recommendations and model scores are labeled as such on
their pages and are not facts supplied by survivoR or CBS.

These derived files are available to download and are built from the pinned MIT-licensed survivoR snapshot. If you publish something built from them, preserve the upstream survivoR attribution. Castaway photos are not included in either download.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the Survivor data on this site come from?
Primarily from the open-source survivoR project, a community-maintained dataset of every US Survivor season, castaway, tribe, and vote, released under the MIT license. We derive placements, connections, and graph layouts from a pinned snapshot of that data.
Can I download the survivor stats used on this site?
Yes, connections.csv (every one of the 7,887 castaway pairs who shared a season) and players.json (all 751 players with placements and stats) are free to download on this page.
How often is the data updated?
After each season finishes airing (and when upstream corrections land), the dataset is re-synced, re-validated, and the whole site is rebuilt. During an airing season a spoiler-free cast list is published from pre-season data.
Who took the castaway photos?
Cast photos are self-hosted with credit to their sources, Survivor Wiki / CBS (724 photos), True Dork Times (27 photos). Missing photos render as a neutral silhouette.
