Sixteen contestants are divided into two tribes to compete in the harsh conditions of northern Queensland for an extended forty-two-day game featuring the series' first medical evacuation.

Day one split the cast into two tribes: Ogakor and Kucha. Everyone here was new to the game, and eight of them would go on to play again.
