Biography

Rick Devens was the breakout fan favorite of Survivor: Edge of Extinction (Season 38), a fast-talking local news anchor whose relentless play made him must-watch television. Voted out and sent to the Edge, Rick battled back into the game and then went on an immunity-and-idol run before losing the final four fire-making challenge and finishing fourth.

He returned for Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans and again reached the endgame. Rick finished seventh after twenty-two days, adding a second deep run to his Survivor record.

Rick Devens is remembered as one of the great modern underdogs, the newsman whose scrappy fight from the Edge of Extinction and return on the fiftieth season produced memorable Tribal Councils across both appearances.

Rick Devens's own answers from the pre-game cast profile CBS published before the season aired.

Claim to fame
My kids, BUT one time there was a cat stuck high (very high) up in a tree for days and may have died but I did a news story and contacted folks and got him rescued, so I have that going for me.
Hobbies
Basketball, hiking/playing with the kids and dogs, and video games.
Pet peeves
Not taking ownership of actions, over explainers, waiting in line, and people not using coasters.
Inspiration
My father. He's totally focused and dedicated. A West Point grad and Airborne Army Ranger. He can do anything. Also, shout outs to Stephen Colbert and Stephen King who are brilliant and funny.
Castaway they say they are most like
Cochran. He's a strategist. He was also a genuinely nice guy but he was there to PLAY!
Why they wanted to play
I want to win. I've been watching and dreaming of being Sole Survivor since high school. I think I can win! Also, the $1 million.
