Biography

Jon Dalton, better known as Jonny Fairplay, authored the most infamous lie in Survivor history. On Survivor: Pearl Islands (Season 7), he had a friend deliver false news that his grandmother had died, a fabricated tragedy he used to win sympathy, an immunity-adjacent reward, and strategic cover on his way to a third-place finish.

The "dead grandma" ruse instantly became Survivor legend and made Fairplay one of the show's defining early villains, unapologetically embracing the heel role. He returned for Survivor: Micronesia - Fans vs. Favorites (Season 16), where a memorable self-elimination only burnished his outlaw reputation.

Love him or hate him, Jonny Fairplay is impossible to forget. Jon Dalton remains the yardstick against which every Survivor lie is measured.
